A soft touch of wood sets off clean, pure and refined aromas of citrus, stone and dried white rose scents. While there is plenty of minerality on the focused medium-bodied flavors, this is unusually one-dimensional at present though I do like the balance and the obvious classiness of the mouth feel. Caillerets is one of the great 1ers of Chassagne so there is every reason to believe that this may add depth with time in bottle but readers should view my score as offering several points in terms of benefit of the doubt. - BH90
Domaine Marc Colin et Fils is wine estate based in Saint-Aubin, in the Côte de Beaune subregion of a Burgundy. The domaine is particularly known for its local Chardonnay wines – a hallmark of the region, although Pinot Noir is also grown – spanning both Saint-Aubin and neighboring appellations. It was created by Marc Colin and his wife Michèle in the 1970s from plots inherited from the Colin and Ponavoy families.
At the start, their holdings totalled six hectares (15 acres) in Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. Today the estate, run by three of the Colin's children, extends to 19 hectares (47 acres) over multiple appellations, including parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay.
It had been larger but, in 2005, eldest son Pierre-Yves took his share of the vineyards to work separately, establishing the highly regarded Pierre-Yves Colin Morey domaine in Chassagne-Montrachet.
Marc Colin's annual production totals around 120,000 bottles per year. Some 70 percent of this is white wine, ranging from Bourgogne Aligoté and Chardonnay through to Le Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet.
The domaine also produces nine different white Saint-Aubin Premier Cru wines. Marc Colin also makes five red wines, headed by a Santenay Premier Cru La Comme. - Information from Wine Searcher
