Description

A discreet but still perceptible touch of wood frames fresher aromas of red berries, humus and a whiff of pepper. Curiously, the middle weight flavors aren't quite as dense though they are finer and particularly so on the more complex and lengthier finish. - BH88

The Winery

Philippe Colin has set himself up in modern premises in the industrial zone of Chassagne Montrachet with his share of the Colin-Deleger vineyards, which he has supplemented by some négociant cuvees. The label reflects a new-generation approach to his attractive wines. The Philippe Colin style is for elegance and subtlety rather than weight and power.

Les Vergers is always richer than both Les Chenevottes and Les Chaumées. There is less clay there, but it is still richer. Les Chenevottes is powerful, but it there is also a spiciness which is present every year. Les Chaumées is always explosive, easy to drink. Les Chenevottes has more character. Les Vergers is always closed when young, but will open after about five years. It’s the most reserved wine of the three.
