A. F. Gros Vosne Romanee Aux Reas 2018
- Burgundy,Cote de Nuits
- BH89~91, WA89
- Pinot Noir
This is the spiciest of the three Vosne villages cuvées with its pretty mix of red berries, currant, plum, violet and again very slight hint of volatile acidity. The mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is gorgeous, indeed it's silky, yet there is no lack of punch on the firm, serious and lingering finale. This too is worth a look. - BH89~91
Offering up aromas of raspberries, spices and creamy new oak, the 2018 Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas is medium-bodied, built around powdery tannins and lively acids, with a pretty core of fruit and a nicely defined finish. If this fleshes out and becomes more complete with more bottle age, my score will seem a little conservative. - WA89
The domaine was established in 1988 when the parents of Anne-Françoise, Jean and Jeanine Gros of Vosne-Romanée decided to let go of a few parcels of the family domaine (The domaine was initially known under the names of Gros-Renaudot, then Louis Gros, and after inheritance, Jean Gros).
At the same time Anne-Françoise aquired a domaine in Flagey-Échezeaux, and later with her husband, François Parent, purchased a vineyard in Savigny-les-Beaune.
Shortly thereafter, François added to the domaine his own vineyards in Pommard that he inherited from his family. Being the 13th generation of winemakers, he continues to aquire knowledge and techniques that enable him to vinify his wines so that they express the typicity and complexity of the aromas of the Pinot Noir.
Together they decided to unite the two domaines and install in Beaune the caves, cuverie and buildings.
