Description

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has turned out nicely, bursting from the glass with expressive aromas of rose petals, spices, wild berries and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, layered and invitingly perfumed, it's built around powdery tannins and succulent acids. Despite its deceptive charm, there's considerable structure here to sustain graceful evolution in the cellar. - WA90+

A menthol top note is present on the red and dark pinot fruit-suffused aromas that are set off by enough wood influence to mention. There is better freshness and verve to the delicious and attractively refined medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. There are backend traces of wood and warmth but overall, this is a quality Vosne villages. - BH89

Wines from the Vosne Romanée appellation are all of excellent quality, as all the vineyards are located on sites and soils that are highly favourable to the production of good wines. Their distinctive quality is the elegance. Structured by discreet tannins and an unobtrusive acid content, they are wonderfully mellow. They have substance and linger long on the palate. Very aromatic, they highlight scents of cherries, strawberries and woodland undergrowth in an elegant combination of fruits and spices.- Winemaker's Notes

The Winery

The village of Vosne Romanee entered in the Burgundy history in 636. It was at the beginning of the XVII century that is first noted the name "Mongeard" in the registry. For more than eight generations, the Mongeard family has been established in Vosne Romanee, right in the midst of the Cote de Nuits, producing wine with an utmost respect for tradition.

Since then and through all the generations, the family is committed to their passion: Vine and Wine. The Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, renamed since 1945, now operates a large vineyard in the purist of the burgundy tradition, My grand-father was Eugene Mongeard and my grand-mother Edmee Mugneret.
