Description

Here too there is a whiff of herbal tea to the decidedly ripe yet still reasonably fresh aromas of black cherry, raspberry and humus-tinged earth. The sleeker and finer though not denser medium-bodied flavors also possess a beguiling texture before terminating in a more complex if slightly warm finish. This is very ripe and a wine that should be approachable on the younger side.- BH87~89

A supple red, displaying cherry, strawberry, sandalwood, mineral and smoke flavors. It's lively and balanced, with a lingering finish of fruit and earth accents. Drink now through 2027. - WS91

Offering up aromas of sweet berry fruit, petals and spices, framed by a deft application of toasty oak, the 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Narbantons is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with a generous, broad-shouldered profile that's typical of the vintage but which avoids excess. - WA91

Savigny-les-Beaune “Premier Cru” Les Narbantons reds have an intense colour which is more vivid than that of the "Villages" appellations. Their bouquet is elegant and powerful, dominated by red fruits. The “Premiers Crus”, concentrated and full of tannins, combine character, finesse and elegance. These wines are noted for their finesse and can be drunk while still very young, although those from the good years reach their true excellence when fully mature.- Winemaker's Notes

The Winery

The village of Vosne Romanee entered in the Burgundy history in 636. It was at the beginning of the XVII century that is first noted the name "Mongeard" in the registry. For more than eight generations, the Mongeard family has been established in Vosne Romanee, right in the midst of the Cote de Nuits, producing wine with an utmost respect for tradition.

Since then and through all the generations, the family is committed to their passion: Vine and Wine. The Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, renamed since 1945, now operates a large vineyard in the purist of the burgundy tradition, My grand-father was Eugene Mongeard and my grand-mother Edmee Mugneret.
