Mongeard Mugneret Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2017
- Burgundy,Cote de Nuits
- Pinot Noir
Soft wood and herbal tea notes combines with those of dark currant, raspberry and spice wafts. There is both good verve and detail to the nicely focused and relatively powerful flavors that display firm but not rustic tannins on the youthfully austere finale where the wood suggested by the nose reemerges. - BH91-93
The wine is harmonious, round, generous, fleshy, ample, mellow, racy and elegant, in colour a deep rich ruby red. The bouquet is of quite exceptional aromatic intensity in which the concentrated perfumes of rich red and black fruits (cherries, mulberries, blackcurrants), vanilla and spices, woodland undergrowth, violets and, with age, animal pelts, all mingle and combine. In the mouth this ample, meaty, muscular wine achieves perfect balance between fine tannins, mellowness, and a discreet acidity; the complex aromas linger very long in the mouth.- Winemaker's Notes
The village of Vosne Romanee entered in the Burgundy history in 636. It was at the beginning of the XVII century that is first noted the name "Mongeard" in the registry. For more than eight generations, the Mongeard family has been established in Vosne Romanee, right in the midst of the Cote de Nuits, producing wine with an utmost respect for tradition.
Since then and through all the generations, the family is committed to their passion: Vine and Wine. The Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, renamed since 1945, now operates a large vineyard in the purist of the burgundy tradition, My grand-father was Eugene Mongeard and my grand-mother Edmee Mugneret.
