Diamond Creek Red Rock Terrace 2016 (B)
- Napa Valley
- Cabernet Sauvignon
Made up of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace is very deep purple-black colored and features profound notions of plum preserves, blackcurrant cordial, Black Forest cake and espresso with suggestions of black tea, fertile loam, cardamom and menthol plus a waft of charcuterie. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs in the taut, muscular black fruit and savory layers, framed by very ripe, very firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length and depth.. - WA98+
Offers a solid core of warmed plum, blackberry and black currant preserve flavors, backed by tobacco and ganache notes. A mouthwatering flash of iron and rippling acidity are buried on the dense and authoritative finish. Features ample grip for the cellar.-WS95
The aromas of blueberries, blackberries and spices are impressive. Black licorice and iodine. Full-bodied, very linear and tight with a beautiful mouthfeel. Extremely long and polished. Lingering finish. So beautiful now, but better in 2022.-JS98
Red Rock is a 7-acre block of the famous vineyard and this vintage is blended with 8% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Tobacco, leather and cigar box season a thick, viscous structure of sweet cherry and cassis that is rich and succulently rewarding. Cellar awhile to tame the tannins and enjoy best 2026–2031. -WA95
Founded in 1968, Diamond Creek is California's first exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Vineyard. Visionary pioneer Al Brounstein defied modern conventions and planted Bordeaux varietals on secluded Diamond Mountain. The three vineyards produce a small amount of long-lived wines that are elegant with great depth and richness, honored and cherished by connoisseurs the world over. Taste the differences imparted to the wine by the distinct soils and micro-climates of Diamond Creek Vineyards.
Our second coolest micro-climate is our five-acre Gravelly Meadow vineyard. Originally a pre-historic river bed, this stony, gravelly soil drains rapidly and the vines struggle for moisture.
