Viña Pomal Centenario Crianza is a red wine from the DO Rioja made by Viña Pomal , one of the marques belonging to Bodegas Bilbaínas that was born in 1904. Bodegas Bilbaínas became a reference brand for the red wine of La Rioja and one of its wines , Ederra Crianza, the wine of the newspaper of King Alfonso XIII was chosen. In 1997, the facilities and vineyards of Bodegas Bilbaínas were acquired by the Codorníu Group, which initiated a renovation of the winery.
This wine is a blend of Tempranillo(100%) from own vineyards located in the best area, in the Rioja Alta (Haro). The climate in this area is moderate continental with influences both Mediterranean and Atlantic. The vineyards are 400-500 meters above sea level on clay-calcareous soils, clay-ferrous soils and rivers. Regarding the elaboration, after selecting the grapes, a destemming and crushing is carried out to be able to pass to a long and slow maceration of 2-3 weeks. Finally, this wine remains in American oak barrels for 12 months and 6 months more in the bottle.
