Description

The 2010 Barbaresco Gallina treats us to sweet candied cherry aromas with nice intensity, steady balance and an expressive personality. Only 2,800 bottles were made. - WA90

Intense garnet colour with the aroma of violets and small fruit undertones. This wine is full-bodied with soft, balanced tannins that have a unique sweetness. - Winemaker's Notes

Neive. Very heady nose. Great attack and freshness. Transparent structure with some real sweetness before the remarkably tannic finish. The toughest of Piero Busso's 2010 Barbarescos. Already some persistence. I tasted this again at the end of the tasting and was still most impressed by the precision. And length. QGV Jancis Robinson-JR17.5

The Winery

In the heart of the biggest crù of Langhe (Albesani _ Borgese, Gallina and San Stefanetto) there are the vineyards of the family wine farm Busso Piero. Piero's father founded it in 1953. Piero with the help of his wife, Lucia, his son Pierguido and his daughter Emanuela follows all the phases of production from the vineyard to the winery.

The unique characteristic of the soil and the ideal facing of the vineyard (south) make it possible to obtain a richer harvest of the component for the production of big wines. All of these conditions are favourable for the making of a great wine, yet they are not altered by any chemical and industrial compound. Piero's awareness and approach is nature friendly. In the vineyard they apply the organic procedure to minimize the use of chemical products. Their priority is a viticulture respecting the soil, the vine tree, the environment , they brought back traditional methods and organic products in order to re-create and authentic vineyard.
