Description

Here too the nose is sufficiently reduced that it is difficult to read but the rustic, somber and rather serious middle weight flavors also display good complexity and punch on the firmly but not aggressively structured finish that delivers fine length for a villages level wine. Drink 2013+ - BH87-89

With the spark of youth, the color is a vibrant ruby. With age, the color deepens to a crimson hue, like a black cherry. Strawberry, blackberry, violet, and rose are all a part of its spontaneous aromas; however maturation will bring forth a more licorice bouquet. Full and powerful, rich and bodied, its strong structure is confirmed. Tannins create a velvety touch, enhanced by a very fine grain, without harshness. Can be enjoyed young with its fruity notes; however, this is definitely a wine to be aged. - Winemaker's Notes

The Winery

The House of Lécheneaut is implanted in Nuits-Saint-Georges where it holds a prestigious position in the heart of the Burgundy terroir. It flourishes on ten hectares of vineyards scattered among eighteen glorious appellations from Côte de Nuits, which bestows its rich intensity and uniqueness.

Fifty to sixty thousand bottles of renowned nectar are released each year from its winery, sent off to conquer the international markets.

HISTORY OF THE DOMAIN

During the late 1950’s, Moreysien de souche Fernand Lécheneaut founded the house with the same name in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The domain contained two and a half hectares of vineyards, divided among the communes of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, and Morey-Saint-Denis.

In 1986, after having followed an oenological training at the Viticole highschool in Beaune, the sons of Fernand, Philippe and Vincent, rooted in their burgundy terroir since their childhood, naturally followed suit with the firm intention of prospering the family’s domain.

From this date on, the Lécheneaut Domain will continue to grow and develop. Additional vineyards were obtained in Nuits-Saint-Georges and in Vosne-Romanée in 1987. New parcels, including some Premiers Crus, were acquired a little later in Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin. Then the illustrious Premier Crus of Nuits-Saint-Georges “Les Pruliers” and “le Clos des Ormes” in Morey-Saint-Denis made a remarkable addition to the Domain.
