The color is bright ruby red. The nose is very expressive, marked by aromas of chocolate and smoked notes. There is a nice background with aromas of red and black fruits, peppery notes. Hints of ginger and menthol give freshness to the wine. The mouth is well-rounded, elegant, and mineral. The finish is long, fruity and spicy.-Winemaker's Notes
I should admit right here that I'm a sucker for more elegant styles of Chateauneuf du Pape. The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape fit squarely into that wheelhouse. It's not hugely ripe or concentrated, but it offers bright raspberry-cherry fruit, a dusting of clove and allspice, a supple mid-palate and a silky finish, making it eminently drinkable now. It should drink well for at least a decade.-WA93
A silky, refined and alluring style, with subtle raspberry, red currant and blood orange coulis flavors gliding through, carried by silky tannins and backed by light tea, sandalwood and savory accents. Drink now through 2028. 1,900 cases made.-WS91
The history of the domain goes back to at least 1652, when it was owned by the Chambellan family. This family also owned the property in 1777 when a daughter from the place married Louis Boisson and in this way connected the Boisson family with the property. The Boissons also worked as blacksmiths in the town and from this got the nickname "Caboche" (derives from the old Provencal word for horseshoe nails). This name was consequently chosen for the property (Domaine Pere Caboche).Domaine du Père Caboche covers 63 hectares of Chateauneuf du Pape (17 ha.), Cotes du Rhone Villages (15 ha.), Cotes du Rhone and IGP de Vaucluse.
